Details: The 3M Animalintex Hoof & Wound Poultice Pad is a unique, self-contained poultice pad for wet or dry use, primarily designed for horses and trusted for equine first aid. This 8" x 16" multi-layered pad contains natural poulticing agents (tragacanth gum) and a mild antiseptic (boric acid) for use as an aid to manage abscesses, heat and swelling. It can also be used as a wound dressing and for cleansing of dirty wounds, while effectively absorbing exudates to create a moist, clean healing site that supports recovery from cuts, sores, bruises, sprains, cracked heels, thorns, and minor leg or hoof stiffness/soreness. Horse owners commonly apply it as a hot poultice by soaking in warm water, placing it on the hoof or affected area, and securing with vet wrap or duct tape—many achieve great drainage results by leaving it wrapped for up to 3 days with less intervention than traditional methods. It works cold to ease inflammation or dry as protective covering over open wounds, with built-in cushioning for comfort. The occlusive backing retains essential moisture and warmth to reduce contamination risks. Easy to apply with no preparation needed, this poultice is a go-to essential for equine caregivers. Package dimensions are approximately 12.28 x 7.05 x 1.3 inches, and each pad weighs 0.09 pounds for convenient storage. Also indicated for dogs in severe wound cases (with veterinary guidance); not recommended for cats. Always consult a veterinarian before use to ensure proper application for your horse's specific condition.
